Conversations with Experts, Present & Future: Biomimicry Pt. 3 w/ Arndt Pechstein and Giles Hutchins
For our 3rd and final part on experts within biomimicry, our Editorial Content Editor Jordan Thorne brought both Arndt and Giles together for a joint discussion on all things biomimicry.
Arndt Pechstein holds a PhD in neuroscience and has expert backgrounds in Biomimicry, Design Thinking, Agile, Exponential Organizations, and digital business models. As an initiator of the Hybrid Thinking approach, he coaches and consults on change & transformation strategies to help organizations in their digital and agile transition and toward innovative business models.
Giles Hutchins is a speaker, author, strategist, and coach. After 25 years in business, formerly as a management consultant, he now specializes in applying living systems logic to leadership and organizational development.
We asked both experts what their understanding of biomimicry is and what the implications of biomimicry are when applied to real life scenarios. We got an understanding of how they apply their own understandings of biomimicry to their own work and in helping others.
Highlighted often was the importance of using life systems thinking practically and effectively and not falling into the same trap of mechanistic thinking as we have so often in past iterations. It is key to commit wholly to applying the knowledge we get from nature and living systems and not merely using the basic thinking as another tool or best practice to have at our disposal.
Both experts spoke to the importance of using this moment of society wide change brought on and accelerated by COVID-19 to alter the way we approach problems and implement new and improved methods of thinking.

I've never known a grade A employee go into HR or recruiting. The grade Z people who typically work in HR and recruiting don't have the first clue of how to spot grade A ability. It's wishful thinking to imagine that you'll be able to get grade A people onboard when the HR/recruitment people aren't recognising their resumes and inviting them to interview in the first place.

5:30 You won't beat the competition on best product or lowest price, you'll beat them on moments of truth (any & every point of contact with the customer). 7:50 Hire people who get a kick out of serving people, then give them the skills and the training to do it. 8:12 Policies should be guidelines. You want to let people use their brains instead of inflexible rules and policies.

Simon What is wrong with your voice? The dialect, tone, buzzer What was I going to ask. oh to thank you. I sent my daughter and her man to stay at the Four Seasons in Toronto - idk not quite a year ago. She was just out to Alberta, to visit him and was coming home, flying in with snow storms we have - yesterday, today, tomorrow. You know how Dad's 'worry' I texted when she landed that if the visibility was poor, if she had any reason, the car would not start, whatever, contact the Four Seasons and they would take care of her. You see that was a week ago. I am kidding. I knew they took such care with them the previous trip if she showed up on the door step that she would get the royal treatment again. See there is Medieval times but that is ancient history. I just wanted to say thanks, in passing - building relationships, trust Something happens when we idk get over the money - ever present concern but there are times

I was lucky enough to be at O2 UK at this time. I remember Incredible leadership, great strategy, bold moves and a genuinely customer centric leadership team. It was such an exciting time. A bold, clear, highly specific strategy built around the customer that was massively transformational and genuinely end-to-end. Matthew was a massive part of transforming the UK telecoms landscape- in terms of value, handsets (he won the iPhone), network, retail, service, governance, internal engagement, strategy, alignment and vision. As he says himself- he had a great exec team. Looking back 15 years ago, I was a bit young and a bit junior at the time - but he would still pull up at my desk to find out the latest on KPI’s, customer experience and even the slightest detail. A great ceo.

MYRVAN KING'S STATEMENT IS DISINGENUOUS SUNAK, LIZ TRUST AND THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY MOST CERTAINLY SAW THE ECONOMIC CRASH ABOUT TO HAPPEN. Sunak, Liz Trust said on National television that the sudden rise in interest rates was caused by the war in Ukraine. Jeremy Hunt in his Charter published 30 June 2023 also States that the war was the cause. They are blaming the war as the reason for the economic crisis. Their statements are disingenuous. The real reason was Sunak, Boris, Liz Trust, Jeremy Hunt and the Conservative Parties decision to embroil the UK in BIDEN'S PROXY unlawful war of PROVOCATION and ATTRITION. They had no legal authority or mandate by way of a referendum to embroil the UK in the war, which nobody voted for. Had they had a Referendum the UK would have saw the crisis coming. But they knew perfectly well the war would cause interest rates to skyrocket, the austerity, deficit and the inflation it would cause that's why they kept their decisions Concealed 2015 long before President Putin was provoked to intervened, the UK had trained 100,000 Ukraine soldiers willfully calculated with the intention to provoke Putin into war. These NEO NATZIs soldiers over eight years shelled, maimed, slaughtered and killed over 15,000 indigenous Russian Ukraines in East Ukraine. It was ethnic cleansing. BIDEN'S PROXY WAR couldn't care less about the suffering of the Ukrainian people. His proxy war of aggression is all about MONEY, POWER, and CONTROL. BIDEN was laundering multi-billions of Taxpayers money through Burisma and his Shell companies in Ukraine. Biden an his co-conspirator accomplices are all on his gravy train bandwagon. It is also NATO's war of ATTRITION to steal and control the NORD gas pipeline, Russia's breadbasket, fertilizers, and oil, to mention just a few. Russia supplied all these commodities before BIDEN started his PROXY war of PROVOCATION. SUNAK, LIZ TRUST AND THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY MOST CERTAINLY SAW THE ECONOMIC CRASH ABOUT TO HAPPEN. It's time to drain the swamp. BIDEN and his co-conspirator will be indicted under the RICO Act.

Do people realise the questions were clearly pre planned as a list to ask Simon and test his theory by Amol and his team. That is what journalism today is about asking the challenging questions that might trip or put people in an awkward position like you do to politicians. It does feel like they may have been still figuring out the questions whilst Simon was talking. I agree Amol did not come off well in the process as the one asking the questions and challenging the answers.

Ugly, scary, 100,000's of fracking wells! Plus, what's innovative about getting ever more oil out with the inundation of problems already in existence from it's unceasing flow?
